I took this hiking trail in April 2012. It is a relatively easy hike with almost no steep climbs or rocky areas. It is a good, entertaining hike and is open starting from early spring to late fall.

About the trail:
The entrance of the trail is clearly marked and there are ample parking spots near the entrance of the trail.
The garden portion of the hike is fun. This is a walk on a wooden pathway with plants growing on both sides. This is a short loop on the left hand side as soon as you enter the trail.
About half way into the trail, you will come to a large field area that has visibility to the highway and On the Border nearby.
In the trail, you will encounter a Field of Heroes which is a good stop for a small picnic or pictures. On the day I was here, this area was relatively cool and had plenty of shade.
The biggest attraction on this hike lies towards the end of the hike. There is a large dam or reservoir and you could get down the slope to the water. There is also a bridge which you can go under to reach the other side of the dam. This area is good for taking some nice pictures and cool off if the day is very sunny.
This hike will not take any more than 2 hours even if you are stopping for pictures. In terms of difficulty, I would rate this as very easy.
What inspired me to pick this spot:
- I have looked at multiple hiking options around NJ and this trail was closest to my house.
- It was a short relatively simple hike. So that was a good starting point in spring.
